Unit-Level Serialization

Assigning a unique, secure, and non-sequential cryptographic digital identity to every individual product package during inline printing.

Parent-Child Aggregation

Creating logical relationships between individual serialized packages, secondary cases, and master logistics pallets for total supply chain traceability.

Continuous Inkjet (CIJ)

A fast non-contact inkjet technology optimized for printing 2D codes on bottles, cans, and flexible packaging films on high-speed lines.

The terminology behind connected packaging

This glossary defines the terms used across the AIQR site, grouped into the families that matter on a packaging line: code types (QR, Data Matrix, GS1 Digital Link), processes (serialization, aggregation, EPCIS event capture), and threats (counterfeiting, channel diversion, parallel imports).

Entries are written so that a brand manager and a line engineer walk away with the same understanding. Where a term changes meaning between marketing and technical usage, the glossary notes both.

Definitions are reviewed against current GS1 standards and printer vendor documentation so the library stays accurate as the ecosystem evolves.
